The Millennium Development Goals? (MDGs)

Formally the WBG has accepted a series of tasks and responsibilities, known as MDGs, and these include eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; to achieve universal primary education; promote gender equality and empower women; reduce child mortality; improve maternal health; combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases; ensure environmental sustainability and develop a global partnership for development. Each one of these goals has defined operational targets and at the end of the book, in an appendix, I list these, as well as the names of all the Millennium Development partners that are working towards the same objectives.

You could probably spend the rest of your life downloading information about all these entities from their respective sites. Don’t do that! As you could also probably spend the rest of your life discussing the validity of the Millennium Development Goals and the Partners’ commitment to them or lack of it, don’t do that either. Whether you accept the MDGs or believe others are more appropriate, the important part is to do something! Anything! Soon!
